I haven't updated the PHP version in a while (much less interest than in the standard version, as far as feeback indicates). Does your feed (assuming it is public) work for the widget? If it does, that's a good start...ensures the feed is being properly formed and all that.
Is your page public? Link to it (or email it -- thenickchapman at or close to gmail) and tell me what steps you have taken so far. Presumably, downloaded the code...extracted to a web directory. If I remember correctly, the php is basically a compressed version of the working implementation on my server. The code should be good...it'll just have to be set to have proper permissions (to write thumbnails for caching) and all that.
I doubt I'll make a legit write-up, but will try my best to help you out. This was developed for (primarily) use with my (then) ZenPhoto gallery. I don't use it anymore, but was able to get it to work. I did have to take a few more precautions to accommodate ZenPhoto, though, now that I think of it.
